getting started...

applying for your provisional driving license
Fill in a D1 application form from your local DVLA branch or Post Office. You will need to enclose original documents for proof of identity as well as a passport style colour photograph and the fee of £50.00. This should take approximately 3 weeks. Alternatively, submit your application online and you should receive your license within 2 weeks. -
planning your first lesson
When you call or email our office our friendly staff will help you choose the most suitable time and place for your first lesson. We’ll be as flexible as we can to meet your needs. We offer one, one and a half or two hour lessons and there are considerable savings to be had when purchasing a block of lessons upfront. -
start preparing for your theory test
As soon as you have started lessons you’ll want to prepare for your theory test. We recommend getting a Driving Test Success theory DVD that will give you all the information and practice you need. Your practical driving lessons will make so much more sense when you know the theory. Of course, your driving instructor can help you with any queries you may have.

early stages
Starting from scratch the instructor would bring you to a quiet area. Your lady instructor will make sure you are aware of where the key controls are and what they do, before she encourages you to move the car. All our tuition vehicles are fitted with dual controls for extra safety however your instructor will guide you through the correct procedures so the they are seldom needed. -
improving your driving skills
The first stage of learning is dealing with basic handling of the car, steering, gear changes and clutch control. Controlling the car on quiet roads we’ll help you build good routines including key observations.
As you grow in confidence you will be taught essential driving maneuvers, such as, turn in the road, reversing around a corner and both bay and parallel parking. -
proficient driving
Before you are ready to sit the driving test, you will have mastered driving in busy road conditions, navigating roundabouts, joining the bypass and doing it all safely and with confidence.

ready to pass your driving test…
Your instructor will advise you when you are ready to book your test. To help you overcome nerves and better prepare you for the driving test, Lady Driving Instructors offers you the option to take a ‘mock test’. Your instructor will play the role of an examiner, allowing you to get familiar with the test format, which removes much of the pressure on the real test whilst also giving you valuable feedback. We will normally book you a 2 hour slot for your test so you can practice driving, go over any last niggles and feel ready for your test.
